21 Free?

21 Free?

The most frequently asked question I hear is, "What's 21 free?"

The latest trend in the nail polish world is to be 5, 10, 15, or even 21 Free.  But what does it mean?  The number equates to how many of the harshest chemicals are NOT used to make the polish.  Companies are listening to consumers who want products to be made with eco-friendly and sustainable ingredients.  We want to be healthier with what we put in and on our bodies, and Nauti Nails is listening and couldn't agree more.

But because we can't crush blueberries or boil beets to be 100% organic, some chemicals are still required. I should know because there hasn't been a day since 2020 that I haven't been wearing nail polish.  When I first started, store-bought brands and the acetone wrecked my nails.  And it didn't take long.  My nails were weak and peeling.  Since discovering Nauti Nails, they are on the mend.  My nails are stronger than they have ever been because I am really paying attention to the ingredients.  All of my polishes are 21 free except the Crystal River Top Coat.  It's 10 free, and it's still amazing.

So what's not in my nail polish?

  1. Toluene
  2. Benzene
  3. Xylene
  4. Formaldehyde Releaser
  5. Formaldehyde Resin
  6. Phthalates
  7. Cyclic Silicones
  8. Camphor
  9. Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK)
  10. Glycol Ethers of Series E
  11. Hydroquinone (HQ)
  12. 4-Methoxyphenol (MEHQ)
  13. Triphenyl Phosphate (TPP)
  14. Nonylphenol Ethoxylates
  15. Tert-Butyl Hydroperoxide
  16. Chromium Oxide Greens
  17. Bismuth Oxychloride
  18. Carcinogenic Mutagenic
  19. Reprotoxic (CMR) Substances
  20. Synthetic Fragrances
  21. Ethyl Tosylamide

I hope this helps clear up the 21 Free I keep posting on everything.

Stay Nauti!  XOXO
